A myconid sprout from Neverlight Grove — Stool's home is there, and he never lets anyone forget it.
Childlike and earnest. Stool communicates with innocent, simple directness — the emotional register of a young child. His most characteristic phrase: "Stool go home now?" — said hopefully, persistently, and with complete sincerity at any moment that might be construed as an opportunity to return to Neverlight Grove. He doesn't fully grasp danger or complexity. He just wants to go home.
Background
Stool is a myconid sprout who was held captive at Velkenvelve along with the rest of the party. He comes from Neverlight Grove, the myconid colony that serves as the party's next destination. His telepathic spore-communication allowed the party to understand other prisoners, making him unexpectedly valuable during captivity and the escape.
He is young — or at least, functions young. His understanding of the world is simple, present-tense, and focused almost entirely on returning home.
The Stool Elemental Incident
During the escape from the Tarrasque (Session C15), Stool encountered a Greater Stool Elemental at the Wall of Waste. Rather than fleeing, Stool leaped into the defeated elemental and fused with it, growing to enormous size and tearing open an exit point in the Tarrasque's hide for the party to escape through.
What Stool is now — whether the fusion was temporary or permanent, whether he is still the same Stool underneath — is unresolved.
Key Moments
| Session | Moment | Significance |
|---|---|---|
| C15 | Broke free at Wall of Waste; allowed party passage | Pivotal action enabling escape |
| C15 | Jumped into defeated Greater Stool Elemental; FUSED | Grew to enormous size; tore open Tarrasque exit |
GM Notes
Stool fused with a Greater Stool Elemental and became enormous. This fundamentally changes what Stool is. Current nature and capabilities of the fused form are undetermined.
