The consort of a high priestess of Lolth holds exactly as much power as she allows him — and Shoor Vandree has always understood that.
Background
Shoor Vandree is a member of House Vandree and the consort of Ilvara, the commanding priestess of Velkenvelve. In the drow social structure, this position is simultaneously one of significant privilege and one of structural precarity — his influence flows entirely through Ilvara's favour, and Lolth's web does not value male drow for their own sake.
He is the Velkenvelve guard captain in practice: where Ilvara commands through priestly authority and Asha Vandree handles the political second-in-command role, Shoor runs the physical defenses, guard rotations, and prisoner security. He is good at it.
Role at Velkenvelve
Shoor's role was military. He commanded the drow soldiers and guard details, managed the physical layout of the prison, and coordinated with Xynia Vandree when she was brought in for the pursuit. He answered to Ilvara in all things, though his position as consort gave him access and informal influence that purely ranked subordinates would not have.
The escape: When the party broke out of Velkenvelve, Shoor was part of the immediate response and the subsequent pursuit. The exact sequence of events — whether he engaged the party directly, and what happened — is unresolved.
Personality
Shoor is competent and pragmatic. He does not resent Ilvara's authority over him — he understands the structure he operates within and has made his peace with it, or at least learned to work it to his advantage. What he does care about is performance: Velkenvelve running properly, prisoners staying imprisoned, and his reputation as its effective military arm remaining intact.
The escape of the Forge Wardens is a problem for Ilvara politically. It is also a problem for Shoor professionally. How each of them handles that failure, and whether they handle it together or separately, is a thread.
