Connection

Kavu Childhood friend
Former Name Kavu was "Marcus" when they were young

Rugged and broad-shouldered with a weathered face, dark brown hair streaked with early greys, and piercing blue eyes that hold both warmth and authority. Tailored clothes suited for governance, but his posture and ceremonial sword reveal a seasoned fighter underneath.

Background

Ivor Blackwell is Kavu's oldest friend — they grew up together in Flamemeet. As Burgomaster, Ivor oversees the diplomatic balance between human and kobold populations in the region, and was a trainee of the Purple Dragon Knights.

He was one of the people who recognised Kavu by name when the party arrived via time travel — one of the few humans who knew the kobold adventurer by his childhood nickname.

The Night of The Scar

Ivor saw the sky split open from Flamemeet. He saw four different colours of fire pour down on the mountain. He thought everyone was dead.

He rode south with dozens of villagers an hour after Errtu's banishment — torchlight winding up the transformed mountainside, through fields of grass that flickered with inner fire. He was in his Purple Dragon Knight armour, gleaming purple in the scar's strange light.

He saw the crater. He saw the crystallised dragon.

Then he saw what was left of Kavu — and punched him in the shoulder.

"You IDIOT. You absolute, complete, magnificent IDIOT."

He listened to the full explanation. He sat on a piece of volcanic glass and stared at nothing for a while.

Then: "So Volcathar is dead. And in his place we have a hole between four different fire dimensions, a dead god's treasure scattered across our mountains, and the eternal enmity of a demon lord."

"...Yes."

Ivor laughed. It was not entirely sane.

The New Reality

Ivor understands what has happened to Flamemeet better than almost anyone:

His parting words to Kavu:
"You've changed everything, old friend. For better or worse, nothing in the Dragonspines will ever be the same. I'm going to need help. From you. From your friends. From whoever is willing to give it."

He offered his hand.
