Madryck Roslof
Basic Info
| Apparent Race | Human |
| True Nature | Archfey |
| Apparent Class | Aged Warlock |
| Status | Watching — not yet activated |
| Affiliation | Zybilna (Iggwilv) |
He appears as an old man — a weathered warlock of no particular distinction. He has been waiting a long time, which is fine; he is not as old as he looks, and nowhere near as harmless.
Who He Is
Madryck Roslof is an archfey in the service of Zybilna. He travels the material plane in the guise of an aged human warlock — unremarkable, forgettable, the sort of old man who sits in the corner of taverns and is overlooked. This is deliberate. He has been watching for the emergence of the guardian Zybilna created: Kelvin Fairlight.
He has been watching a long time.
Role in Kelvin's Arc
The Activation Condition
Madryck does not approach until the moment Kelvin's wildfire power is marked with the three-toed bird footprint — Iggwilv's sigil. This mark appears the first time Kelvin calls upon his wildfire spirit after receiving guidance from Reidoth in Thundertree.
When the mark appears, Madryck will know. He will come.
First Contact
His opening words, when he finds Kelvin:
"Child of Fire and Rebirth, yours is the only power that can save my queen, and in doing so, your very world."
This is not theatre. He believes it. He has been waiting for this moment for years.
What He Reveals
Madryck will not reveal everything at once — he is fey, and the fey do not give what they can make you reach for. But he will tell Kelvin enough:
- That his birth was not coincidence
- That Zybilna (whom he calls "my queen") is frozen at the Palace of Heart's Desire in Prismeer
- That Kelvin's wildfire is the only power that can free her
- That the people who tried to destroy him when he was an infant believe he is dead
He will not, initially, reveal who Zybilna truly is — that she is Iggwilv, the Witch Queen, one of the most feared names in the planes. He will let Kelvin come to that.
Personality
Patient. Careful. Genuinely loyal to Zybilna in the way that long-serving fey agents are — not because he is compelled, but because he has seen what she built and believes in it. He is not cruel, but he is willing to use leverage. He has been waiting too long and come too far to be denied by a firbolg who is afraid of fire.
He has genuine sympathy for Kelvin, but sympathy does not override mission.
