Description
A shard connected to the Ring of Siberys that orbits Eberron. The shard was recovered from Vol'kathar's caldera — likely deposited there during the volcanic activity.
Mechanical Properties
- Power Source: Can power eldritch machines, legendary items, and artifacts.
- Contact: Upon identification by Kefkas, an ancient entity from Eberron spoke directly into his mind.
The Eberron Entity
When Kefkas identified the Siberys Shard in Session 4, he heard a voice in his mind — emanating from Eberron itself. The entity is:
- Not malicious. Not safe.
- Ancient. Deeply, profoundly old.
- Curious. Delighted.
- Kefkas has become the most interesting thing it has encountered in a very long time.
The nature and name of this entity are unknown.
History
The shard originated in Vol'kathar's caldera — the same caldera where Kavu lost his arm and the Ember Compass was used. Its presence there may be connected to the divine events of Session 2.
Current Holder
Kefkas identified and retains the Siberys Shard.
GM Notes
Active Hook
What does the ancient Eberron entity want with Kefkas? What does "not safe" mean for a being that presents as merely curious? The shard may be a communication device as much as a power source.
