A void-black greatsword that was waiting inside a living god-beast — as if it had always known who would come to claim it.
Description
Blackrazor is a legendary sentient greatsword of void-black metal. When Othorion pulled it from the living wall of the Tarrasque's Gizzard Chamber, the blade awakened, reshaped itself, and assessed him. It chose him.
Mechanical Properties
TODO: Full stat block from official source (Blackrazor is a canonical D&D artifact — confirm if standard rules apply or if there are homebrew modifications).
Behavior & Personality
Blackrazor whispers promises of strength to Othorion. It actively encourages resistance when others attempt to separate them. When Kefkas tried to take the sword in Session 4, Othorion immediately attacked. When the confrontation escalated and Othorion gravely injured Selene, Blackrazor responded: "Good. They are learning not to interfere with you."
The sword cannot simply be removed from Othorion without triggering violent resistance. It appears to be building his isolation and dependence deliberately.
History
Origin
Unknown. The sword was embedded in the living wall of the Tarrasque's Gizzard Chamber — how it came to be there is unexplained.
Prophecy Connection
Selene and Kavu invoked a prophecy upon the sword's discovery: "a blade taken from a living terror / a survivor pulled from certain death / a chain of events leading to catastrophe." The sword was taken from the Tarrasque (a living terror). Othorion is the survivor pulled from certain death — multiple times.
Current Holder
Othorion is attuned to Blackrazor. He cannot be separated from it without provoking violence. As of Session 4, the party has attempted this once (Kefkas) with serious consequences.
GM Notes
The Sword's Agenda
Blackrazor is not simply evil — it is purposeful. Each violent incident tightens Othorion's dependence and tests whether the party will continue to try to separate them. Its long-term agenda is unknown.
Igwine — Soul Consumed on Attunement
When Othorion attuned to Blackrazor, the sword immediately consumed the soul of Igwine — a tiefling soul Othorion unknowingly carried (retrieved as a soul gem from a hag in Arc A). Blackrazor is a soul-devouring artifact and the attunement triggered this. The soul gem is now empty. Whether Othorion is consciously aware of what happened is unclear — Igwine was a presence in his head, and that presence is now gone.
The Prophecy
The chain of events leading to catastrophe is in motion. What catastrophe? For whom?
